Sixtron is a developer of thin film coatings for solar cells.

Sixtron reduces cost per watt of solar cells for c-Si solar cell manufacturers. Sixtron Advanced Materials has developed a proprietary process to produce anti-reflective coatings for the silicon solar cell industry, without the requirement to use the pyrophoric silane gas (SiH4). Our innovative process is not only cost effective, but simple for customers to deploy on existing PECVD and CVD deposition tools.
The Montreal based company is also developing other thin film coating applications that are highly scalable and cost-effective, for both the electronics industry and the industrial coatings sector. Sixtron thin films have unique optical and mechanical properties, and can be deposited without the complex requirements associated with the use of hazardous and pyrophoric silane gas.

"...a dream come true for solar cell manufacturers..."

"...if sixtron proves its new process viable in mass production, then SiNx deposition PECVD systems will be renamed silicon carbon nitride depositing tools."

"Safely moving beyond silane."

"One company, Sixtron Advanced Materials, has come up with a possible alternative for one of solar manufacturing's workhorse substances...which is showing efficiencies similar to those attained using the conventional silane approach to nitride deposition for antireflective coatings (ARCs). "

"Sixtron could help give customers an edge..."

"The Montreal-based company's system, called SunBox, enables companies to deposit anti-reflective coatings without using silane...That could help give customers an edge, as some industry insiders have predicted that a shortage could be on the way."
